Fighting for their god- the mujahideen way

Abdullah Macapaar, the commander of the MILF’s 102nd Base Command, also known as Commander Bravo, said that “mujahideens” fighting for Allah were responsible for the attacks in Lanao del Norte.

What exactly a mujahideen is?

Wiki defines Mujahid as a Muslim involved in a jihad, id est fighting in a war or involved in any other struggle. The plural is Mujahideen (Arabic: مجاهدين‎, muǧāhidīn). The word is from the same Arabic triliteral as jihad (”struggle”).

Wiki adds that mujahideen are also known world-wide for propagating deadly terrorist attacks, suicide bombings, kidnapings, beheadings, flags-burning and huge violent disorganized demonstrations. When they die (even from natural causes), their war-fellows refer to them as martyrs for their participation in the struggle.

In her book “In the Presence of my Enemies“, Gracia burnham relayed how Guillermo, a foreign national (Caucasian) was beheaded by the Abu Sayyaf.  When her husband Martin asked Abu Sayyaf on why they have to kill Guillermo, Abu Sayyaf only answered him “he’s nothing but a sacrifice”.

In a “jihad”, a “mujahid” would be glad to die with honor.  They believed that if they will die in the war, they will be rewarded by their God with eternal glory in the paradise.  What about those innocents caught in the cross-fire or those they intentionally killed?  Again, they are just bunches of sacrifice.

In the case of the MILF troops who killed innocents, burn houses and ransacked establishments, there is a very thin line between a mujahid and being a sinner or a killer machine for that matter.
